Walkthrough 38: How to Unlock Carbuncle

You will start off this quest in the South East Corner of Redondo Beach near the Church at the end of PCH. This is the entrance to Torrance Forest.

In Torrance Forest you want to head to the North East Corner of the map. To get there you want to keep heading North East as much as possible from the entrance.

Torrance Forest is a great place for gathering cooking ingredients. You can fight numerous different meat dropping creatures. There are also lots of different vegetables you can harvest if you explore the map.

Once you reach Carson you want to follow the path to the city sign. From the city sign you want to head south until you find an opening in the desert rocks with a white well.

Jump down the well and it starts to get a little complicated. Head North, then East then South then East again. North (the only direction) then East. North (the only direction). East (only direction) then South. East (only direction).

Keep heading East until the only direction you can go is North. Take a long walk North until it dead ends and the only path you can take is East. Take the first South and keep going South until you reach the exit.

Once outside head south to the Temple. Inside the Temple can be confusing and is designed to get you lost and frustrated. Inside the temple head north and stand on the symbol on the floor.

You receive a message from Carbuncle. You appear on top of the planet. Head south then east then north. Take the East warp portal by standing on the symbol.

From the next symbol head east. Then North. At the three way junction keep going North to find a chest and a summoner symbol. Grab the chest and use the symbol to warp to the next area.

In the next area head west to another summoner symbol. Head South to the next symbol. In the final room keep heading south until you reach a statue of Carbuncle and his ruby.

You will have to defeat Carbuncle to unlock him. Luckily Lucky and Griffin can help you this time. Once you beat Carby he joins your team and conveniently warps you outside the well.
