Without me to use as a scapegoat Sara and Kitty drove each other crazy. They fought more than Sara and I ever fought. They no longer had me to blame for their arguments and now they could truly see it was not meant to be.
The downfall started when they noticed black mold growing in their closet that had spread to their clothing and other walls in their apartment. They called a tenant rights group and the group's attorney contacted the property owner and manager.
The property owner ended up paying for Sara and Kitty to stay in a hotel while the mold issues got fixed. They stayed in one hotel for a couple months and then they got kicked out because other guests of the hotel were constantly complaining about the noise from Sara and Kitty fighting.
Sara and Kitty stayed in another hotel for a few more months and then they were kicked out of that hotel for the same reason. The manager of their apartment used the two hotel evictions as a reason to cancel their lease and kick them out of their apartment.
Sara and I saw each other once or twice a month at the time. Sara must have seen me as her emergency backup plan. She started telling me she wanted to get back together and get a new apartment together. She kept telling me it was practically over with Kitty.
They fought so much, and Sara believed Kitty was talking to a man romantically behind Sara's back. Sara said she wanted to start over fresh and treat me how I deserved to be treated this time.
I am no idiot. I would consider giving Sara a second chance dating wise, for the sake of the events and our history together. But I was not ready to just jump into getting an apartment together after everything that had happened before. I told her I was open to dating again and seeing how that went.
If things were good, I would consider getting an apartment later down the line. I helped her convince her grandparents to let her move back into the studio apartment they owned on their property. Sara’s grandpa always respected me.
I helped Sara go into her mold infested apartment when Kitty was at work, and we moved all her important furniture and belongings.
I even borrowed my dad's truck and paid my coworker to help us. We were able to do it all in a few trips.
That weekend Sara's mom was in town. Sara's mom and I got along because she was a soccer fan like me. I offered to treat Sara, her mom and her grandfather to tickets to a LA Galaxy game. LA Galaxy is our local professional soccer team. The stadium is about fifteen minutes from my house.
We all went to the game and had a great time. Sara and I heckled a former Manchester United player on the field, and our seats were so close he heard us.
I am a Liverpool fan; we don’t like Manchester United. This was considered a great accomplishment in some circles.
After the game Sara spent the night at my house and slept in my bed with me like old times, like we were a couple again.
The next morning, Sara surprises me with the news she is going to Disneyland with some friends. Just out of nowhere she is going to Disneyland. I was not invited, and I cannot come.
Sara leaves my house and goes to Disneyland that day. I did not want to bug her while she was at the park, so I only sent her a few text messages asking how the park was and how her lunch was.
I expected to receive a call or text or even a visit at the end of the day when she came home but nothing happened.
I assumed Sara may have gotten home late and did not want to wake me up or was too tired to send a message. The next day at work I waited anxiously for her to wake up and send me a message, but she never did.
At one point I got busy, and I forgot to check for a message from her until the end of the day but at the end of the day there was nothing. I was starting to think she was mad at me for some reason unknown to me. I text her "R u OK?" Sara did not respond.
The next morning, I wake up and there is this new post from Sara on Instagram. There was some picture of some guy I had never seen or heard of in my life. The post was announcing her new boyfriend.
After everything we had been through, she had told me she wanted to start fresh. Then she did this. It's one thing to suddenly have some new man but to announce it in the way she did online was over the top and ridiculous.
After that post I sent her one last message. "Please never contact me again." and then I blocked her on all social media and phone. That was the end.
