I was becoming more and more disillusioned with Safehaven and Tetra. I started to think with all the time I invested in Tetra and her businesses I should start investing in myself.
Creating the Safehaven video game had rekindled my love for making video games but the entire time I really wanted to work on a game that represented me. I loved weed.
All my life, as a gamer, I had collected moments and characters from other games and movies as inspiration. All along I was creating and perfecting my own game in my head.
The game started off as that game inspired by my comic book in high school. Over time it evolved into a full-fledged RPG.
It was my own Final Fantasy, with elements of Pokémon and Zelda, Grand Theft Auto and even Star Wars. Of course it had to center around weed as well.
In a world where ingesting cannabis gives a small percentage of the population superhuman abilities, an Evil King outlaws the plant as part of his plans for World Domination. The World's last hope is Lucky Jay and the Blaze Knights, a Brotherhood of heroes sworn to use their cannabis inspired abilities for good.
I kept the two main characters based on myself and my old high school friend Jake. Jake and I were friends on social media, but we rarely talked. I know he was surprised when he saw my new game and recognized himself. I also kept the Pigs dressed as police, although now they had a completely different backstory.
I made the bad guy look like Donald Trump. I just want to clarify this was not some kind of political endorsement or the opposite an attempt to trash Trump. I just thought overall his character made great inspiration for a villain.
I made characters based on people like Sara, Jason, Carson all my old friends. Obviously, the main character’s love interest was Mistress Tetra. I found a way to tell the same stories I told you here about Carson and H.B. I even made Jody a bad guy.
I created a virtual representation of my hometown and the surrounding cities.
I took the maps from the Safehaven game and added Safehaven as a place you could visit in Kush Quest.
There was an area called Hollyweed where you fought the evil Vampire Paris Duncan.
The more I worked on it and the more ideas I came up with, the more I fell in love with making games again.
