People often asked where the name Tetra came from. Some theorized it was inspired by a fish breed. Others claimed Tetra meant Four and symbolized the four letters in BDSM.

Although that BDSM idea was pretty clever, they were all wrong. I would explain to people at parties that Tetra was actually a Dominatrix from a video game I had designed.

With a Dominatrix as a character many people expected my game to be a BDSM game, and I had to explain to them it was not. Several people expressed interest in a BDSM video game.

Once they heard it was a weed game, they would often tell me I should make a BDSM game instead.

I had not designed or worked on any video games since high school. I thought surely there is no way a free program like the one I used as a kid, OHRRPGCE, still exists.

I decided to check online and see what I could find. Not only did OHRRPGCE still exist, but they had also been updating it periodically for years.

I downloaded the new version for free. I looked over a few of the tutorials on their website to refresh my memory. I was quite a bit rusty, but I managed to create a simple video game after a few months.

I created a virtual Safehaven Studios. You played as Mistress Tetra and could walk around the dungeon doing little side quests for other Mistresses. This included tasks like buying toys from a sex shop or seeing clients for BDSM sessions. It was mostly inspired by inside jokes.

I created little characters representing all the most well-known Safehaven Dominants and people who helped with our events. Even Leo had a small cameo as the security guard.

The sessions were like RPG or Pokémon battles. You selected different attacks based on BDSM arts like flogging, spanking, even humiliation. The client was your enemy and had a subspace bar aka his health points.

BDSM skills lowered his subspace bar until the client was satisfied, and the session (battle) ended.

New skills were learned from side quests and buying toys from vendors. The vendors were all real-life people who vended at our events.

I put a lot of work into making the dungeon as accurate as possible. All the different playrooms were included.

I bought a pack of cheap, smaller sized flash drives and started giving out free copies of the game to people at events. I never considered charging money because I was worried all the real-life people, I based characters on in the game would want their cut.

Overall, the game was well liked despite being really simple and having terrible graphics. Initially I just wanted another piece of content to make our events and Mistress Tetra look good. I thought it would separate us from the competition having our own video game.

I liked to think it made the Mistresses I chose to immortalize more successful or popular as well.

At one point I had Mistresses I did not even know start contacting me demanding to be in the video game.

Sara started to get a little controlling over the game. She said because I made her the main character, she did not want to be associated with anyone in real life she did not like.

She also vetoed me putting porn stars in the game. Sara said she only wanted people who actually worked at Safehaven Studios in the game.

Eventually I got distracted with other projects and the Safehaven game was not really a priority. As much as there was a genuine interest in the game, it was not the game I really wanted to make.

I always felt like a game based on sexual content like the Safehaven game deserved better graphics I was unable to provide at the time.
