One perk of Sara working at Safehaven was she was given free entry and a plus one to every event at Safehaven There were events almost every weekend. We started going to all the events and Sara and I made it our mission to prove she deserved to be there, and she was one of the best.
Most parties were open to the public. Majority of the playrooms would be unlocked, and performers would take the stage sporadically throughout the night. Scattered among the rooms were different couples and groups using the equipment in the playrooms to perform public scenes.
They would bring their own BDSM toys from home and put on a show.
Anyone was allowed to enter the rooms and watch as long as you did not interrupt or disturb anyone else. Anyone could take up an empty space and play with their partner as long as they did not mind the possibility of an audience.
At each event we started taking over a playroom. We would set out all our toys and Sara would play with anyone brave enough to ask. Originally it was almost in spite of some of the doubters but over time this started to attract a crowd, and we started building our own group of friends within the community.
Years ago, when we had first attended events at Passive Arts we had been treated like outsiders. Being the regulars at every Safehaven party gave us a chance to change things. We made it our mission to make friends with anyone and everyone. We made everyone feel welcome.
If you were some loner looking for someone to play with, Sara would play with you. I was like her recruiter finding people in her audience to be her next submissive. I would keep an eye on her toys and clean the ones she had finished using while she played. Sara began to attract a long list of people wanting to play at each event. She would literally spend the entire event playing with different people for hours. She loved it.
Typically play with Sara at a party included 15 to 30 minutes of impact play like flogging, spanking or paddling. It was not like Fetish Chamber where the majority of play centered around more sexual fetishes.
The most experienced Dominants could put you into in almost hypnotic and relaxed state with their rhythmic and skilled techniques. This was called subspace.
I started to appreciate the therapeutic value in the non-sexual things Dominants could do.
It was not long before Sara started being asked to perform on stage during events. She was 100% against it originally but over time she changed her mind. I was the first person she performed with in an impromptu performance in front of an empty crowd on a slow night.
The host of the event was able to coax Sara on stage with the promise of a professional photographer taking photos. Unfortunately, the photographer chose to prioritize taking photos of the other Dominants and their sexy female submissives.
After that Sara and I never played together on stage or at a public event again. Audiences prefer Dominant women playing with women FYI. Not me in my South Park underwear. I was bad for business.
Sara started collecting sexy female play partners and performance submissives from her friends, fans and coworkers she met at Safehaven.
Sara's first real official stage performance ended up cementing the legend.
Sara was asked to perform at a party that was being hosted by a fellow Mistress at the dungeon. The theme was very formal, and the DJ played jazz music the whole night. Most of the guests looked bored. Sara was very nervous. This was not her type of music or vibe. The music for her performance was selected for her based on the theme and she did not feel comfortable at all.
Moments before her performance I approached the DJ and convinced him to switch the music.
The whole week leading up to the event Sara had drove me crazy playing the same song in the car over and over every day. I was annoyed at the time but now I knew this was the perfect song.
Sara is announced on stage; a collection of the friends we had made in the months prior cheered her name. Suddenly the speakers exploded with "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath. The event organizer looked furious. The entire event was in shock. Sara was amazing.
Sara's movement on stage aligned with the music perfectly.
The boring lethargic atmosphere was suddenly overtaken by the lively attitude of Mistress Tetra. People talked about her performance on stage for years.
One weekend we had noticed the dungeon was not open for events. Mistress Azule explained to Sara there was no one who wanted to host an event that night. At this point Sara and I were regulars every weekend.
Without the dungeon hosting a party we had nowhere to go.
With only a week to prepare we volunteered to host an event. Sara had recently completed a photo shoot with a well- known BDSM toy maker who specialized in making toys designed for nerds.
His latest creation were floggers and whips designed to look like light sabers. The photo shoot was Star Wars themed, so we tried to host a Star Wars themed party and use the photos from the shoot on the flyer. Unfortunately, we knew nothing about advertising events, and despite having amazing photos no one came. No one knew.
At Safehaven my role sort of evolved from Sara's submissive play partner to her business manager. I ran her website, her social media. I watched and cleaned her toys when she played. I came up with ideas for sessions and gave her advice. Sara had a secret weapon in business and that was me.
I was able to get into the head of her target audience because as a submissive man I was that audience.
Sara's influence at the dungeon was not limited to the events. She brought sisterhood to the people who worked there. Sara regularly organized nights out at our local bar the Pitcher Place and majority of Safehaven's staff were always in attendance.
The nights that the bar was taken over by beautiful women clad in latex and corsets will remain in the local folklore of our hometown forever.
